Necklace Native American Santo Domingo 5- Strand Turq & Pen

Beautifully strung blue turquoise nuggets are in this Santo Domingo made 5-strand necklace. The Santo Domingo Pueblo artists are well known for their bead making and multi-strand necklaces, usually of finely cut heishi bead. This one is strung with just enough baby olive shell between the nuggets to accentuate the turquoise and to achieve a visual continuity of the brown shell found at the top of each strand. It is strung using waxed lined cord, which has been finished in a traditional braided wrap.
